OUR MISSION

Together, we’re empowering Catholic men to live their faith at home, in their parish, at work and in their community.

OUR FAITH

Our goal is to help men, their families and their parishes grow closer to Christ. Through our programs and resources, we provide opportunities to live and spread the Catholic faith.

Charity is at the heart of our work and our faith - and it always has been. For the Knights of Columbus, charity means supporting a virtually boundless variety of Projects.

We are here to build a daily bridge back to what matters, for our members and fellow Catholics.

We come from many places, backgrounds, and stages in our lives, but we are all of one faith. Find out more about what we do.

OUR HISTORY AND HERITAGE

Founded on the principles of charity, unity and fraternity, the Knights of Columbus was established in 1882 by Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary's Church in New Haven, Conn., and a group of parishioners. Their intent? To bring financial aid and assistance to the sick, disabled and needy members and their families.

Today, Father McGivney is being considered for sainthood.

Earl Kenneth Fernandes (born September 21, 1972) is Catholic prelate who has served as the 13th Bishop of Columbus in Ohio since 2022.

Fernandes is the first Indian-American bishop of the Latin Church in the United States, the first person of color to serve as the bishop of the Diocese of Columbus, and the youngest diocesan bishop in the United States.

Fernandes was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati on May 18, 2002, by Archbishop Daniel Pilarczyk at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter in Chains in Cincinnati. His first pastoral assignment was as vicar of Holy Angels Parish and a teacher at Lehman Catholic High School in Sydney, Ohio. In 2004, Fernandes went to Rome to study at the Alphonsian Academy, attaining his licentiate in moral theology in 2006 and a doctorate in moral theology with a concentration in bioethics in November 2007. During this time, he encountered the lay ecclesial movement of Communion and Liberation, and was deeply impacted by it. His episcopal motto is drawn from a prayer of the movement. While in Rome, Fernandes was also trained as an exorcist.

Back in Ohio, Fernandes taught at Mount Saint Mary's Seminary in Cincinnati and served as the academic dean there. In 2013, he published a book, Seminary Formation and Homosexuality, with the Institute for Priestly Formation. It defended Pope Benedict XVI's ban of the admission of gay men to Catholic seminaries.

Fernandes served as parochial administrator of Sacred Heart Parish from July 2014 to March 2016. There he celebrated the Tridentine Mass along with masses in Italian and English. He said most in attendance at the Latin Mass were young people... Looking for reverence and beauty, a sense of transcendence, and to be connected to their parents and grandparents, the generations of faith... The Latin Mass is also quiet. There’s so much noise and business in our lives. They enter into the liturgies interiorly and love it for its tradition, the Faith of their fathers.

Fernandes was also named a Missionary of Mercy by Pope Francis for the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy that year.

In 2016, Fernandes began to serve as a secretary to the Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, first to Archbishop Carlo Viganò and then Archbishop Christophe Pierre.

Fernandes served as the pastor of St. Ignatius Loyola Parish in Cincinnati from 2019 to 2022. Fernandes became pastor of the parish after his predecessor was accused of a rape. Parishioners at St. Ignatius spoke highly of him and his management of the parish following the crisis.

Fernandes is a fourth-degree knight of columbus, as well as a member of the National Catholic Bioethics Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He has served as a judge on the archdiocesan marriage tribunal, and as a board member of the Pontifical College Josephinum.

On April 2, 2022, Fernandes was appointed 13th bishop of the Diocese of Columbus by Pope Francis, with his episcopal consecration and installation by Archbishop Dennis Schnurr occurring on May 31, 2022 at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Westerville, Ohio. Fernandes is the first Indian American bishop to serve in the Latin Church in the United States, as well as the first person of color to serve as head of the Diocese of Columbus. Fernandes is the fourth bishop of Columbus who was initially ordained as a priest for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. At his consecration as bishop, Fernandes was the youngest ordinary bishop in the United States.

HELPING COUPLES AND FAMILIES DISCOVER THE SUPERABUNDANCE OF GOD

Our Mission:
Helping Families Discover the Superabundance of God.

During the Great Jubilee, Steve Bollman received a personal call to found a ministry dedicated to the renewal of marriage and family life. He set aside his professional career as an energy derivatives trader to found Paradisus Dei. Integrating Church teachings with the latest findings of modern science and the wisdom of the saints, Paradisus Dei produces life-changing materials that expand the mind and touch the heart.

Our Ministry:
Founded in 2001, Paradisus Dei helps families discover the superabundance of God within marriage and family life. Current programming serves couples, men, and youth in 44 states and multiple countries. Integrating the teachings of the faith with findings of modern science and the wisdom of the saints, these programs have been independently verified to be profoundly life transforming. Our goal is to encounter people wherever they are on their spiritual journey and help take them further. Paradisus Dei is an independent, lay Catholic ministry dedicated to marriage and family life.

Become the person God made you to be.

Ruah Woods Institute offers resources for growing your God-given identity, written in language made for today’s world.

Ruah Woods Institute supports adults, teachers, students, and parents as we seek to understand the truth about our innate dignity, as image-bearers of God, male or female, called to love one another as God loves. We do this by helping Catholics apply Theology of the Body to our everyday lives—becoming more of the sons or daughters God made each of us to be.

Teacher-friendly, affordable, and easily implemented, our curriculum has been widely integrated into schools and parishes across all 50 states and beyond.

What our Theology of the Body K-12 curriculum teaches vs. what it is not.
WHAT IT IS:

What it means to be male or female, created in God’s image
We are created as a gift
God gives us an essential purpose to live for others
We are called to authentically love God and one another
When we align with God and our purpose, we are destined for happiness
Understanding how God reveals himself through Jesus, marriage, the sacraments, and more
The dignity of each human person, and their calls to work and love
God’s plan for marital relationships

WHAT IT IS NOT:

A chastity program
Too hard for the common person to understand
A bunch of rules
Only focused on human sexuality
Revolutionary or a break with tradition
A biology textbook
A “fad” or trend
Sex Ed.

ABOUT:

Catholic Concepts is a launch pad for great ideas with an eye on the eternal and feet on the ground. We’ve seen incredible creativity and innovation coming out of the Catholic sphere, and we want to be a resource and a haven for these good ideas to ignite the imagination of the nation! Catholic Concepts brands all feed our mission to start conversations through joyful products and services. We offer screen printing, custom fulfillment, custom product creation, beautiful and meaningful gifts, and ways to order your life around the rhythms of the church!

Our Story:

It all started with a conversation about donut socks, as most good things do…
"I can wear socks for national donut day. How cool would it be if I could wear saint socks on a saint's feast day?" said Sock Religious' co-founder, Scott Williams. His wife, Elisabeth, thought he was joking, laughed, and they continued their weekend in Chicago.

A few days later, he took a sock template with stick figure sketches to his colleague, Madison Cipoletti, and asked if she could help him make a sock with Pope St. John Paul II on it. The next thing they knew, they had created the first design as well as a design to honor Pope Francis that they would bring to NCYC in 2017. The socks sold out before the conference was over!

Today, Sock Religious continues to rapidly grow, and makes not only socks but t-shirts, stickers, onesies, and coffee mugs. We have heard countless stories over the years of how our products have offered encouragement, hope, support, and joy to the people who wear them! We are happy to Start Conversations Through Joyful Products.

In 2022, we expanded our product offerings by creating a new Umbrella Brand, Catholic Concepts - Breathing New Life into the Catholic Market. Now, we have additional brands to serve Catholics in different ways. To learn more about Catholic Concepts and our family of brands, click here.

Our Team:

Those socks don't end up in your mailbox by themselves. There are a lot of moving parts that bring our products from dream, concept, design, revision, manufacturing, picking, and packing to shipment. We are a small, growing, and mighty team. Learn more about our team members here!

Simple and Affordable Healthcare for You and Your Family

Saving You Money, One Bill at a Time:

With health care costs continuing to climb, it’s hard to find quality health care that doesn’t break your budget. With Solidarity Healthshare, we keep medical bills low by negotiating your medical bills for you. We use a standard system based on Medicare reimbursement rates that ensures providers are paid fairly and your bills are as low as they can be.

How Health Care Sharing Works:

Healthcare sharing is an alternative to traditional health insurance. It’s simple and affordable healthcare that allows you and your family to get the care you need to stay healthy without violating your conscience.

Health care sharing ministries provide a way to pay for health care costs that is different than traditional health insurance.

As a member of a health sharing ministry, you pay a Monthly Share Amount. This monthly share is then used to pay for the health care needs of other members. When you have a health care need and if you have met your Annual Unshared Amount, other members will pay for your health care needs.

Members also agree to a common set of beliefs that help determine which medical costs the community will share towards. With Solidarity HealthShare, guidelines on the medical expenses that members share towards are primarily guided by the moral teachings of the Catholic Church. These beliefs help define what is and is not eligible for sharing.
Why Solidarity:

Solidarity HealthShare supports you and your family by lowering your medical bills, providing you with a team of care professionals to help you navigate the health care system, and giving you peace of mind knowing your health care dollars are used ethically.

Welcome to The Catholic Telegraph, the monthly magazine of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. We are one of the oldest newspapers in the United States, published continuously since 1831.

Currently 133,000 subscribers receive the magazine in their mailboxes each month, and this website is another way in which we hope to continue our mission of proclaiming the Good News of our Catholic faith. In 2019, along with www.thecatholictelegraph.com, new offerings of The Daily Divina and the Weekly Ember were introduced.

On Saturday, Oct. 22, 1831, The Catholic Telegraph came into being at the behest of Bishop Edward Fenwick, OP, bishop of the then-Diocese of Cincinnati. Bishop Fenwick’s 10-year-old diocese reached from Kentucky to northern Michigan, and he believed that a newspaper was needed to help him communicate with a far-flung flock that was often subjected to virulent anti-Catholic attack. His letters, sermons and reports were the primary focus of the early paper.

The Catholic Telegraph was the first Catholic newspaper founded west of the Allegheny Mountains. It should be the oldest continuously published Catholic newspaper in the United States, but for a brief period — during the cholera plague of autumn of 1832 that claimed among its many victims Bishop Fenwick — the paper’s first editor, Father Mullen, laid his pen down in order to minister to people in need, suspending publication for a short time. In historical circles, The Catholic Telegraph is lauded for its strong abolitionist positions before and during the Civil War. Throughout its long history, the paper has not been afraid to speak out against wars, civil rights abuses, human rights abuses, political wrongdoing and social ills. But as one Massachusetts priest, Father J.M. Finnotti, wrote in 1875 of The Catholic Telegraph, “Charity has had a powerful sway over its editorials.”

The paper has maintained The Catholic Telegraph name and the following motto since its founding: “In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty, and in all things, charity.” We find this a most worthy motto to work by even 184 years later.

The newspaper’s influence was the subject of a 1943 book, The Editorial Opinion of The Catholic Telegraph of Cincinnati on Contemporary Affairs and Politics, 1871-1921. It has been used widely for reference in other historical works and dissertations.

In 1937, the newspaper became known as The Catholic Telegraph Register, published by the Register chain of Catholic newspapers based in Denver. Since 1961 it has been under the management of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and is known simply as The Catholic Telegraph.

In 2009, the newspaper launched TheCatholicTelegraph.com website.

In September of 2011 The Catholic Telegraph became a monthly publication.

In November of 2015, the website was overhauled with a new format, color scheme and logo, as well as functionality for reading on mobile devices.

In June of 2020, the history newspaper became The Catholic Telegraph Magazine.

The monthly magazine is read in nearly 145,000 homes throughout the archdiocese. By June 2020 , TheCatholicTelegraph.com was averaging 2,500 users per day and 4,300 page views per day.
